Just my thoughts and opinions here (I’ve experienced the StumbleUpon effect a few times).
The only way StumbleUpon traffic could be useful is if you got tens of thousands of visits from it, and you’re using a CPM ad network that pays you for the impressions, because:
- SU visitors only view one page per visit
- SU visitors do not click on AdSense (do not I say)
- SU can send so much traffic in so little time it will crash your host (put CPM ads all over!?)
I myself am also a Stumbler (sometimes) and when I stumble, I normally only view one page then close it, unless it’s a really interesting site/blog then I go and sign up/subscribe.
I get about 1.3 pageviews per visit from SU visitors, and they look at the page for 30 seconds on average, not very impressive in my opinion. If I get a large burst of traffic from SU my average pageviews per visit for the entire site drops quite dramatically, which I really hate seeing
Free traffic is free traffic! I’ve found that traffic from delicious isn’t much better either.
I’d like to take a moment to thank Mr. Cow for plugging my design services over at his blog. So far it’s brought me a few new clients which is great!
That’s all the juice I’ve got, sorry
(I’ve got a bit of a cold)
When people go to the trouble of putting in a lot of work to make something really cool (for us to use for free) we gotta try to give ‘em some link love! Right? Well, anyway, G56ogle. Wicked eh? I know for a fact that Google has a heap of domains like Gooooogle with extra o’s in them, but I guess they missed this one.
The design they’ve got going on is very bright, colorful and creative, so it’s a nice change from the boring old plain-white Google homepage. I’ve bookmarked it for possible future use ![]()
Looks like Alexa has recently made some changes to the way they rank websites, or, at least they’re now using more sources other than their trusty ole toolbar.
There’s plenty of good reading material on the subject, of which you can find a few of my favorites here: ProBlogger, TechCrunch, Mashable.
Wellsir .. PhotoshopStar went from 45k to a cool 36k overnight, that is nice, but I’m not gonna be jumping up and down over this, because I’ve seen some other (unjustified, as far as I can see) changes to other websites’ ranks as well.
Looking forward to seeing how this goes (hopefully my rank doesn’t go down to 100k now!)
When you search for a (fairly) popular website name in Google you’ll sometimes see a set of navigation links underneath the main website listing. Well, I’ve had those for PhotoshopStar in Google for a while now, I just thought I’d post now coz it’s fairly interesting, and I have nothing else to post about
Just so we’re all clear, yes they are called sitelinks, it says so in Google Webmaster Tools
I’m pretty sure these sitelinks only appear to very popular websites, or websites that have a lot of trust from Google, and have been online for quite a while.
So … I was a little inspired by the trailer for The Dark Knight! I’m totally looking forward to this sequel to Batman Begins.

I was a little bored… with time on my hands ![]()
Somehow I managed to make it on a ‘Top 30 Bloggers Under 21‘ list from Retire@21. I’m thinking he only included people on the list that he actually knows of, and he knows me from when I used to work with him. Although I did read something about calculating top bloggers by Alexa and Technorati.

I dunno, but that’s pretty good, although I don’t think I’m much of a success as of yet!

I normally very rarely use Facebook, mostly because I just find the website so difficult to navigate (and how annoying it can be), but I thought I should login and check what’s new.
I updated a few things, then I go to take one of those similarity quizzes, or whatever they are. As I’m trying to fill it out, I get a spammy-smelling popup, and when I click cancel it redirects me to the same quiz page, then it happens again, and again. It’s plainly quite annoying.
Is this because some third party came up with the quiz application and stuffed some spam into it? I have no idea how this works, I don’t seriously follow the Facebook developer platform, or whatever it’s called
Honestly, how repulsive is that? I hope this doesn’t happen often.
Well that was quick! I’ve just broken the 1000 feed subscribers mark, not long after the 800 mark. You can check it out over at PhotoshopStar (sorry, not this blog).

My brother told me I should publish at least one tutorial per week now, to keep the site growing. I’ve been having a fair bit of trouble over the last few months with putting up new tutorials, but I’m gonna try keep this schedule now.
Off to write a tutorial.
Did anyone else have to re-agree to the Google AdSense policy recently? Maybe they found out about my illegal wheelings and dealings …
Joking!
I hope they weren’t upset with the way I had my AdSense displayed on PhotoshopStar for the last week or so, I changed that just then though.
