Is Facebook Meant to Shove Spam into my Face?

Published by Eli on Mar 24th, 2008. Filed under Web.

Facebook Spam

I normally very rarely use Facebook, mostly because I just find the website so difficult to navigate (and how annoying it can be), but I thought I should login and check what’s new.

I updated a few things, then I go to take one of those similarity quizzes, or whatever they are. As I’m trying to fill it out, I get a spammy-smelling popup, and when I click cancel it redirects me to the same quiz page, then it happens again, and again. It’s plainly quite annoying.

Is this because some third party came up with the quiz application and stuffed some spam into it? I have no idea how this works, I don’t seriously follow the Facebook developer platform, or whatever it’s called :)

Spam Redirect Facebook

Honestly, how repulsive is that? I hope this doesn’t happen often.

Yep, probably a dodgy application filled with adware itself. Facebook is normally pretty good about removing apps that do this type of thing.

Yuck for apps on Facebook :)

Ya, that would have to be it. I was just wondering if Facebook would be swift in removing things like this. I don’t like Facebook because of all the trivial apps they have, I was reading an article about mark zuckerberg (founder) and he was looking at this new app, where people can throw sheep at each other …

:D
